Being a Stay at Home Mom doesn’t mean giving up your dreams

Stay at Home MomsMaybe you went to college, maybe not. We all had dreams of what we’d accomplish in life or what we wanted to be. Was being a stay at home mom your dream? If you’ve accomplished that. You’re living your dream already.

Many moms dreamed of other things, of being successful in a particular field, of reaching a certain goal, of making the world a better place or whatever, and some didn’t exactly plan to be a stay at home mom at all.

Being able to stay at home with your children and watch every aspect of them growing up is a real gift. To them and to you. But that doesn’t mean you can’t also follow your chosen career path or dream. Not with the way technology has boomed and given us so many tools to work with.

The Internet is amazing and the way that cell phones have advanced have given us a way to get so much more done in so much less time. These days, you can run an entire business right from your cell phone, including building your website.

There are more than 10 million women owned businesses in the US according to the Center for Women’s Business Research. I’m sure a lot of those are work at home moms even though I can’t find a study to quote on that.

becoming a work at home mom isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Of course your children and family come first, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do more if you want to. Whether you just want to bring in some additional income on the side, pursue your career or education, or want to start your own home business, there is a way to reach your goals.

What are you good at? take a sheet of paper and list your skills. List them all, even if you don’t think of some of them as “marketable skills”. All things lead to ideas. What are your passions? What are your hobbies? Are there hobbies and passions you’ve put aside to be a stay at home mom?

You can choose more than one thing for your work at home career or home based business, so as you narrow your list down to the things you really want to do, don’t throw out everything. Don’t leave too many that you can’t focus on where to start. Prioritize the list this way.

Give each thing an A, B, or C as to how passionate you are about that particular thing. Then go through the A’s and assign each a number, 1 through 6 on how viable each is when you think about the time and/or money it might take to get it going, with 1 being the easiest and 6 being the hardest. Then do the B’s and C’s.

Now you have a prioritized list from A1 at the top to C6 at the bottom. So, you start with A1. You’re very passionate about that and it doesn’t take much to get it started. Focus on that one thing until you get it going. But don’t throw out your list. You may yet still be able to get to the A2s and B1s on your list someday.

You don’t have to give up on your dreams just because you’re a stay at home mom.¬†You can choose to start with something that is already in place for work at home moms before you start your own business. There are many programs you can get involved in to help you make money from home or you can pursue a work at home job. Also, here are some different home business ideas to get you started.

I LOVE working from home, specially blogging to earn extra income from home, working from home has allowed me extra free time to do the things I love most. I enjoy spending lots of FREE time with my family!!! Also traveling the world, going to concerts, reading, riding horses, riding quads. Not having your typical 9-5 job allows the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want. Life is short, make it the best you possibly can for you and the ones you love.
