Working from home sounds great doesn’t it? No commuting to work. More time with the kids. Literally working in your PJs. Setting your own hours. Being your own boss. But is it really something I can do? That’s the question that pops up for people who haven’t tried it yet.
Questions arise, like; “Do I want to work from home for someone else or do I want to be my own boss?”, “How do I get started?”, “Are there programs online that will help me learn to work from home?”, “Do I have to make an investment and if so, how much do I need to get started?”. The answers depend on your own personal goals.
Here are some questions 0nly you can answer;
Are you more comfortable working for someone else or do you want to be your own boss?
There are work at home opportunities where you work for someone else and there are opportunities for those who want to build their own home business. Only you can make that choice.
Working at home for someone else is easier than starting your own business. The opportunities range from doing piecework to hourly pay depending on your skills. There are employers who hire telecommuters as regular employees. This is happening more and more, so there are jobs that allow you to work from home if you have the skills they need. Other employers will offer you piecework. Stuffing envelopes, Writing Articles, Designing Websites, Data Entry, Transcription, Social Networking and Blogging are a few examples where you get paid for the work you produce.
Starting your own home business can seem daunting to anyone who hasn’t tried it before. Becoming an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone, but more and more people are doing it these days. When the economy tanked a large number of people who were laid off and couldn’t find work decided to start their own ventures and many have been huge successes.

Affiliate Marketing (From Wikipedia – – A type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.)
Retail Marketing (Setting up your own online store and selling products that you create, products you buy wholesale, or products from Dropshippers and other ready-to-order services that will supply the products you sell and even process the payments and pay you the profit from your sales.)
Service Marketing (Offering a service to customers online that you can provide due to your own particular skills such as; Consulting, Bookkeeping, Running an Answering Service, Becoming a Virtual Assistant, Web Design, Graphics Work, Video Creation, and almost anything else you are skilled at and can do from home.
So it’s a choice you have to make. Be your own boss or work at home for someone else.
Do you want to work from home as your full-time job or do you already have a good job or your own business and just want to make additional income from home?
If you already have a good job or a business that you make a steady income from, you might still want to make additional income to fund your child’s education, pay for vacations, buy that new car or boat you’ve always wanted or maybe to pay off some debts. Whatever your reason for needing or wanting additional income from home, there are a huge number of opportunities you can take advantage of.
You do have to be willing to come home from your regular job and put in a couple of hours or time on weekends to make it work. You can even get your family involved. Your wife, husband and even the kids can help you earn additional income at home. You can make it fun and give everyone in your family the chance to be part of your success.
Do you have enough self-discipline to set aside hours that are work hours even though you are at home?
This is a bigger question than you might think. There are more distractions at home. It’s easy to say, I’ll get back to this after one TV show, after I do this home chore, after I do this for the kids, after I . . . , after I . . . , etc. It takes more discipline than a regular job. When you drive to work or to your office, there isn’t much else to do there except your job. There are things you can do to help avoid distractions at home and set your mind to separate work and home even though you are at home.
